Energy and materials for a rapidly changing world.

The Tristate Catalysis Club (or Tri-State Catalysis Society, TSCS) is a section of the North American Catalysis Society (NACS). The Society exists to promote and encourage the growth and development of the science of catalysis and related fields. We organize and participate in professional meetings of scientists. We also report, discuss and exchange information and viewpoints in the field of catalysis. The club is incorporated in Kentucky as a non-profit organization.

The Kentucky - Ohio - West Virginia region has a long history and vibrant future in energy, chemicals, and scholarship in catalysis and related disciplines. The coal fields of Appalachia fueled the growth of industry and development of the early western region of the United States. These resources and associated shale oil and gas provide energy and feedstocks for 21st century needs. Chemical manufacturers have long used the Ohio river and its tributaries to transport raw materials and products around the region and country. As cities and towns grew in this area, several of the country’s best universities were established and are leading the way to a cleaner and safer world with high standards of living for all.

Anyone with an interest in the activities of the club is welcome to participate. Membership is available primarily, but not exclusively, to anyone who resides in or is affiliated with an institution located in Ohio, Kentucky, or West Virginia. Some of our friends in Indiana hold their membership in our club, and some are members of the Chicago section. Those in the Cleveland metro area are encouraged to join the Cleveland / Pittsburg club. Membership in the club also confers membership in the NACS. Members of the club have the right to give input on club business and may run for club offices. Members vote in club elections and on matters of general interest. Elections are generally held every two years. Asbury University, Clariant, Dow Corning, DuPont, MATRIC, National Energy Technology Laboratory, Ohio University, Shepherd Chemical, The Ohio State University, Topasol, LLC, University of Cincinnati, University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, University of Toledo, West Virginia University, and many other institutions participate in the TSCS.

Contact any of the club officers to learn more about TSCS and to join.
